Now with Valentine’s Day falling on a Sunday this year, it offers the perfect opportunity for a day out. If you find yourself in our home town of London a week on Sunday why not book a romantic cruise down the Thames with the likes of City Cruises, or you could pay the Tower of London a visit. The old tower may not shout romance but don't forget it's home to the crown jewels!

Of course, if you prefer to stay at home and share some quality time with that someone special why not have a bit of fun making your own cocktails. Try one of the below recipes to knock the socks off your paramour:

TOM COLLINS

Ingredients

  • 75ml gin
  • 50ml lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 15ml sugar syrup
  • splash of soda water
  • lemon slice, to garnish

Method

  • Shake the gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup over ice. Strain into a tumbler, add the soda water and garnish with a lemon slice.

LEROI

Ingredients

  • 35ml Knob Creek Borbon
  • 25ml sloe gin
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 15ml grenadine
  • 1 teaspoon créme fraiche
  • a squeeze of lemon juice

Method

  • Shake the ingredients with ice, strain and serve in a couple of glasses.

So there you have it, the Okapi Home crash course in pulling together the perfect Valentine's Day. Enjoy! x
