3 Ambitions for our First Sourcing Mission

by Rob Arnott July 28, 2015

After testing our very first product portfolio in a couple of London markets we are now embarking on the next, and very exciting, stage of launching Okapi Home.

Equipped with the feedback and encouragement of some of our first customers we are decamping to Southern Africa for the next couple of months, working with a number of our artisan partners in South Africa, Botswana and Namibia to develop our Christmas range, which we'll be launching in November.

So what do we hope to achieve from our first trip to Southern Africa?

Namibian Sand Dune

1) Uncover some of the region’s best young design talent and craftsmanship.

2) Establish the foundations for building long term, sustainable relationships with our partners and suppliers.

3) Ultimately, we want to return to the UK with a fresh, unique, yet contemporary range of products which will look great in our customers’ homes, whilst helping to make a real impact on small scale businesses in Africa.

Please do get in touch with us if you have any thoughts, suggestions or you've spotted any highly skilled artisans in Southern Africa during your own travels. As always, we'd love to hear from you!
